John Deere 7220 hydraulic coupler Problems

Hi guys! We have John Deere 7220 hydraulic coupler problem. I borrowed a 2007 John Deere 7220 to finish the hay this season. Problem is that the John Deere 7220 hydraulic coupler seems not to hook. I was using a pioneer 8010-4 and tried to switch to an 8010-15. (1/2 inch poppet to a 3/4) neither seems to work. Does this case use something different? I can’t find anything online. The pressure has been released on both sides. Thanks for the help!

John Deere 7220 hydraulic coupler problem may be:

  • The coupler needs to be rebuilt / replaced. These push pull couplers cause a lot of leakage problems or they just won’t connect. The ones Deere uses on its tractors are especially troublesome. One tip, make sure you clean them well before attaching the hoses, as they don’t like dirt very much.
  • Did you test the hydraulic lever in the float position? Unless something is wrong with the female part like JD said it should work. In our two magnums you have to put the lever in float position or it will not accept the end. You have to do the same to relieve the pressure to disconnect and it has always been that way.
